FAQ - Parents could track child's driving habits
Young drivers face high premiums as they are inexperienced and are statistically more likely to have an accident. In essence, they are ‘high risk’ in the eyes of car insurers. Therefore, parents are often called upon to help cover the cost of their child’s insurance or add them as named drivers onto their own policies. Choosing a Model Driver policy could save you money and help to improve and keep an eye on your child’s driving habits.
- How can I check to see how my child has been driving my car?
- Can I request separate online access to my child's online account and dashboard?
Your Model Driver Black Box monitors when, where and how your car is being driven 24/7. It can’t differentiate between who is driving so you’ll need to access your online dashboard and review driving scores of all four driving behaviours – plus your overall ‘Model Driving Score’ – for the days where your child has driven your car. If there is room for improvement, you could refer to the ‘Tips’ on your dashboard.
We are only able to allow the main policyholder to have access to their online account. If the main policyholder is your child then they will have to set up their own username and password. We don’t allow multiple log ins to be set up for one car insurance policy. However, the online dashboard can still be a valuable tool to review together and discuss ways to improve driving habits and therefore scores.
